WILLIAM AGBOR-BAIYEE


Dr. William Agbor-Baiyee is Executive Chairman of the African University Foundation. He is an experienced educator, leader, and scholar with a passion for advancing higher education, human, and social development. 


He previously served in various administrative and faculty roles at Rosalind Franklin University Chicago Medical School, Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine, Indiana University School of Medicine, and Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis University College.


Dr. Baiyee has investigated the problem of professional identity formation in learners, motivation for learning science, and learning communities. His doctoral dissertation focused on leadership motivation and satisfaction in college and university presidents. He has a scholarly interest in the concerns around professionalism in higher education institutions. He is also interested in questions concerning human motivation, teaching, learning and learner development. In addition to his scholarly works, Dr. Baiyee has pub;ished two poetry books. 


He has a PhD in Higher Education, MPA in Public Management, and MS in Education from Indiana University. He earned a BS Honors degree in Cellular and Molecular Biology at Ball State University. As an Indianapolis Teaching Fellow, he is enrolled to complete a Master of Arts in teaching at Marian University Indianapolis.


Dr. Baiyee has received several awards over the years for his professional and civic contributions. A Few of his awards include a Service Award from the Academy for Professionalism in Health Care, Mastermind Award from Case Western Reserve University, President’s Award from the Rotary Club of Indianapolis, Dream Builder Award from Crispus Attucks High School, Service and Leadership Award from the Indiana Area Health Education Centers, and Dr. Taylor Award for Excellence in Diversity Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis. He has served on civic boards and task forces, including service on the Indiana Health Care Professional Development Commission.   


Dr. Baiyee is a prince of the Baiyeembi Royal Family. He is the father of adult twin daughters and his wife is a registered nurse. He enjoys writing poetry and listening to music.
